All hail Fashion Don'ts

Thank goodness for Mrs. Day-Lewis! And Diablo Cody, and Tilda Swinton, and a very few others. I know they will be labeled fashion disasters for their Oscar outfits, which were all a little "out there." Their dresses might not be my personal style, but at least they are somebody's personal style.

The Oscars used to be so much more fun when everybody had to dress themselves! We had some real trainwreck outfits to chew over back then. Cher always had some awful thing on that made her look like a Vegas showgirl or a high-class hooker. Bjork was kind enough to wear a dead swan. And who could forget J-Lo showing everything she had in that green frontless number? Oh, and Celine Dion in that backwards men's suit, that was something.

These days all the players have fleets of stylists working full time for months just to keep the stars from embarrassing themselves. People, people, people, this is HOLLYWOOD! This is not the time or the place to suddenly exhibit good taste and decorum. You know darn well that if you scratched the surface of any one of those Audrey Hepburn look-alikes you would find Britney or Lindsay trying to claw her way out.

Stars! Let your freak flags fly! I know you have enough cash to look cheap at least for this one night a year (heh heh, as if!) is that too much to ask???
