I have been using myself as a human guinea pig, and since I am All About Helping Others, I share the results here, in no particular order:
- Cat naps in a seated position are not the same as sleeping all night in a bed.
Discovered this very morning. It occurred to me sometime last night/early this morning that I could get a lot more done if I didn't waste time getting into bed and sleeping, because, first, all those sleeping hours are NON-PRODUCTIVE! and second, no bed-making! Around 8 a.m. my left leg was asleep and the rest of me resented it.
- Time passes even when you are not paying attention to it.
Say you have an appointment at 2 p.m. You check the clock and it is noon. You start some important task like checking e-mails, or rearranging your fat quarters, or juggling miniature teddy bears. It only seems as if time is standing still. You will check the clock, and it will be 1:57 p.m.
- Moving through space requires time.
If your destination is, say, 15 miles away, it will require a certain amount of time to get to there from here. The time required will vary depending upon your location, for example, in Los Angeles, you must allow 75-180 minutes for a 15-mile trip. In low traffic areas, it will still require something more than zero minutes. Leaving your house at 1:57 for a 2 p.m. appointment may result in lateness, which will be exacerbated by failure to find your car keys.
- Contemplation of activity is not equal to activity itself.
Even if you think Real Hard all day long about cleaning the bathroom, the bathroom will not be cleaned until the bucket, mop, and Mr. Clean come out. (Corollary: No matter what you see on television, Mr. Clean in Real Life is not animated.
- Making stuff is way more fun than maintaining stuff.

- There is nothing more satisfying than hanging out the bed linens on a sunny day.

Cute covered boxes, Kathi.
btw, speaking of guinea pigs, my friend just came back from Peru and the main meat served there is guinea pig. Apparently because the elevation is so high; 12,000 to 18,000 feet, most other edible animals don't survive there. Alpacas and GP's. ahem..I'll take the zucchini, por favor!
That pesky #4 is one of the bains of my existence. If only good intentions mattered!
